Practice Summary

Mr. Checkowsky practices all aspects of intellectual property, with a primary focus on patent prosecution in the mechanical and electro-mechanical arts, including motor vehicles, turbines, internal combustion engines, transmissions, control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, optics, and medical devices.

He counsels both start-ups and established companies regarding domestic and foreign patent prosecution, infringement and freedom to operate studies, as well as opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Mr. Checkowsky is also an experienced litigator who has handled dozens of contested matters in federal and state courts and administrative tribunals.

Industry Experience

Mr. Checkowsky has significant experience in the aerospace and automotive industries, where he worked as an engineer for 14 years prior to graduating law school. He has extensive background in internal combustion engines and turbine technology, including jet engines and turbochargers.
